InfoShare PROMIS/GAVEL Integration
October 15,2005
Keasbey, NJ, October 15, 2005 – For a number of years we have
been hearing our clients say, "too bad InfoShare doesn’t interface
with Promis Gavel". Well, that phrase is about to become history.
Thanks to the persistence of the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office
and major development advancements of InfoShare at CSI Technology
Group, the AOC has agreed to do a data export of Promis Gavel input
that can be downloaded into the InfoShare application.
That’s something that all Record Room personnel can cheer about. Now,
attorneys and investigators can have the latest information at their
fingertips.
As all of you are aware, it is required that basic defendant and charge
information be input into Promis Gavel. Most of that same information
is separately entered into the InfoShare Case Management System.
Users have been concerned about the time and effort expended for this "double entry"
function, but performed the input into both systems so that they could
utilize the features of InfoShare not available in Promis Gavel.
In cooperation with the AOC, we have developed an acceptable data transfer
solution that maintains the integrity of each system. Data entered into
Promis Gavel, on any given day, can be exported to a file on the Prosecutor’s
Office server. The InfoShare application will run an “overnight” program
to pull the data from the file and populate all the appropriate records.
So, one time data input into Promis Gavel will now create and update records
in InfoShare. Please note that this is a "one-way" process, as data
entered into InfoShare does not transfer to Promis Gavel.
Therefore, the AOC maintains the integrity of limited access data entry,
while InfoShare provides all authorized Prosecutor’s Office staff with easy
access to case information and the ability to generate notices and documents
in InfoShare.
We appreciate the work by AOC personnel who have made this happen for
the Prosecutors’ Offices. We, at CSI, also had quite a task for developing
the base data transfer and record population program. This is a significant
"programming man-hour" type project for us, of which we bear all the up
front costs. As usual, pricing for this service is based on the anticipation
that multiple offices will elect it, thereby keeping costs down for all clients.
We are about to give this operation a trial run at the Camden County
Prosecutor’s Office, and then make this “service enhancement” available to our
other clients in New Jersey.
The anticipated result of this program – a significant reduction in data input
time by the Record Room support staff, secretaries, and even for attorneys who
are using the full features of the system to manage their cases. And, of course,
the whole staff benefits when there is more time available to keep up with the
heavy demands on the Prosecutor’s Office.
