Atlantic County Installs Domestic Violence & Weapons
Forfeiture Modules with Application Upgrade
August 16, 2004
Keasbey, NJ, August 16, 2004
- CSI announced the successful application upgrade of
the InfoShare Case & Document Management System and
the installation of new modules at the Atlantic County
Prosecutor's Office (ACPO) this month. Atlantic County
was the first Prosecutor's Office client for CSI in
1997. With their requirements definition for an application
that mirrored the operations of a Prosecutor's Office,
CSI developed the InfoShare application that is now
operating in 12 other Prosecutor's Offices in New Jersey.
The new application has a significantly
different format and structure, based upon the changes
in software technology over the past few years. Yet,
ACPO staff members can easily navigate the new application,
as all of their previous case and defendant data was
transferred into the new application. The new and improved
features of: template correspondence & indictment production;
bar code batch scanning; evidence intake and custodial
management; expanded searches and automated reports,
provide expanded data management functionality to assist
ACPO staff with their pressing job assignments.
With the application upgrade, ACPO
chose to deploy two new modules for their office: Domestic
Violence and Weapons Forfeiture. The DV module tracks
DV cases that are input in the main intake unit with
all other complaint cases. Our unique case numbering
system assigns a DV Unit case number as well as showing
the Police Department case number, complaint number
and the state Promis Gavel number for tracking all criminal
cases. This module permits the DV Unit to conduct their
investigation and prosecution of criminal cases and
to track the cases that are referred to Family Court.
The module also produces a series of notices that are
sent to victims advising them of case status and county
services available to them.
The Weapons Forfeiture module was developed
to the specific needs of the ACPO staff and includes
features that alert staff members of action dates in
accordance with court required time rules. A weapons
forfeiture calendar report, located on the Home Page
of the module, reports all cases with action dates in
the calendar month. The visibility of this report ensures
that required filings are made in a timely manner. Of
course, the module also provides the easy entry and
listing of weapons on the evidence record of the case
record set. The record also tracks the storage of the
weapon, forfeiture activity, and disposition. Importantly,
information on the weapons can be easily retrieved through
the application search features. So, an agent can search
for a particular weapon or a list of weapons like a
particular make of a handgun. The database of weapons
and their owners allows for the easy tracking of a weapon
involved in any subsequent criminal activity.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office
has been an excellent client of CSI, and we are pleased
to be part of their support team of information technology
fighting crime.
