CSI Intelligence Clients forms User Group
Mar. 20, 2008
On February 22, 2007, CSI held an Intelligence User Group meeting hosted by the Ocean County Prosecutors office. This first user group meeting was informative to both the Counties in attendance and the staff here at CSI.
Ocean County's Systems Analyst Mandy Ligotino, demonstrated the multifunctional capabilities of the Intelligence module to the users. Using the input from InfoShare Intelligence users, CSI has incorporated the following suggested customizations and enhancements to the already feature-rich Intelligence module.
The application continues to complies with the 28 CFR part 23 guidelines for law enforcement agencies under which information and reports are classified on reliability of sources and information, as well as classification for dissemination. The information recorded is preset in subject record sets with an extensive range of information variables for organized information input, display, and search retrieval.
Currently the module will allow for subject and incident based information recording and data tracking of activities that are not directly related to criminal matters. The overall benefit of the Intelligence module is that a majority of our clients are now securely sharing intelligence data with their local municipal police agencies. Permission & security settings have been added which allow these local agencies to input and retrieve not only their own input information but additionally the information gathered together into the database from other municipalities. Currently, these agencies have the capabilities of submitting a search query on a particular MO which occurred in their jurisdiction and receive a similar response to their MO from a Municipality on the other side of the county, all within seconds. Both the Subject and Incident search engines incorporate multiple types of search criteria to provide the user the specific results they seek. CSI's incident-based intelligence provides investigators with multi-functionality for not only tracking a subjects relationship to gangs, but also to organized crime, to homeland security, or to a wide variety of criminal activities which can be user defined.
The intelligence database will be capable of tracking and linking subjects, vehicles, events, and locations, all of which can be referenced alone as intelligence information or as part of a criminal investigation. The link analysis feature is also automatically generated to show associations between subjects, addresses, vehicles, telephone numbers, and associates. Each category is represented by an icon linked by directional arrows. The system also now provides a mouse-over feature where the identifying data is displayed along with the subject photo, creating a valuable linking chart to assist investigators in their investigations.
CSI continues to utilize current technology to develop features to provide advancements to Crime Analysis and Mapping Features. These features, when added to the basic intelligence version, will provide users with the most up to date way to share criminal and intelligence data among agencies. CSI will continue to move forward to develop the standards for intelligence based upon the input of our clients and user group sessions.
