Megan’s Law – Sex Offender – Module Installed in Camden and Cape May Counties

Megan’s Law – Sex Offender – Module Installed in Camden and Cape May Counties
March 1, 2005

Keasbey, NJ, March 1, 2005 – CSI announced the deployment of the InfoShare Megan’s Law Module in two New Jersey counties. The module is an optional feature of the InfoShare Case Management System for Prosecutors’ Offices.

The Megan’s Law Module was specifically designed to meet all the tracking and institutional mapping requirements for released sex offenders, in accordance with New Jersey state and federal laws. The record set includes personal data on the sex offender, resident and employment addresses, registrations, and time period for re-registration.

The module has three unique features that are very helpful to Megan’s Law administrators:

   1. Tracks and provides statuses: An automatic multi-step status for each offender from the first registration through the tier classification, institutional mapping, court review and approval process to the documentation of required notices and the offender’s required 90 day or annual re-registrations. Another set of steps is programmed for the offender when they move within the county, again for re-mapping, court review and approval, and another set of notices to affected institutions.

   2. Notifies interested organizations: Importantly, for each step of the process, the system will automatically generate correspondence to the offender, the court, and the police departments. It will also provide notices to schools and other community organizations, in accordance with the tier classification requirements. This saves the support staff a significant amount of time for the production of correspondence and notices for each offender registration.

   3. Provides a set of quick search features: Permits administrators to locate records on one or more registrants on the basis of process status or physical characteristics. These searches will also produce reports on all registrants whose re-registration is due or overdue, as well as the relocation of registrants. These reports will be e-mailed to the local police departments.

The Megan’s Law Module is integrated with a Microsoft mapping application for the clear production of maps, citing all affected institutions within the tier-level geographic area of a registrant’s address. These maps are saved to the system for a record of the Prosecutor’s recommendations as well as for the final maps approved by the court.

Digital images of the registrants can be easily uploaded to the record set, and will post to the Notification Flyer that is distributed to affected institutions. CSI customized the Prosecutor’s Office staff names, phone numbers, and symbols on all templates for the jurisdiction the module will serve.
